On Wednesday the 22nd of May, Sacred Heart School traveled to Greymouth to attend Catholic Schools Day. The day kicked off at the local Greymouth museum History House. They had recorded facts, histories and short biographies about early miners in the West Coast including photos and evidence. Valuables and antiques were displayed- most of them we couldn't touch!
After about an hour of browsing and
looking through interesting displays we drove our vehicles to Dixon Park
to eat our morning tea. Although it was raining we found a perfect spot
for all the students to enjoy their morning break.
Next was the big event!
We drove to St Patrick's Church
where all the Catholic Schools on the West Coast had gathered.The senior students all participated at helping to create our beautiful korowai which was covered in red, green, black and white feathers. In side are photos of our students and a big Mercy Cross which represents our school. The korowai is enfolding and embracing the school family.
